Cllr John Walker on air |
Cllr Walker, who was elected to the council in May 2008, represents his community in the Mancot Village hall Association, is secretary to its fundraising committee, is an active attendee at the local community policing meetings, represents the Hawarden Council on the North Wales Association of Town and Community councils and on the Hawarden Institute Management committee.
He said that the recent immature political display by a senior London BNP official who attended a skinhead concert in Hungary was the “last straw.
“I am a dedicated and proud British nationalist, and more determined than ever to fight to preserve our wonderful nation,” Cllr Walker said. “But I feel that given recent events, I can no longer serve this aim within the BNP.”
He said that he had been unhappy in the party for a while. “The BNP leader has appointed convicted criminals, pornographers and his own direct family to positions of prominence within the organisation.
“These people, who have no qualifications at all, are damaging not just to the party but also to members who get smeared by association,” Cllr Walker said. “It is unfair to associate true patriots such as myself with this sort of activity.”
Cllr Walker said he now wished to continue to serve the people of Mancot as an independent, free of any party political dogma.

As I and many others have stated on other threads, the abbreviation BNP is contaminated and the ship is sinking.

I don’t understand Nick “The Invisible Man” Griffin’s sense of priorities. The moribund, dying-on-its-feet, main BNP today explained that after consultation with Griffin that a London BNP official caught out giving a “Roman salute” has been expelled from the party.
So, as far as Mr Griffin is concerned, being caught on camera giving a “Roman salute” is a serious matter justifying expulsion – but being a senior official with a criminal record or involved in the making/distribution of pornography is not!
It all goes to prove that although you don’t need a criminal record (or be a family member) to get on in Mr. Griffin’s BNP – it certainly helps!

Mercia, I would suggest the explanation is that Mr. Griffin’s sense of morality is not based on any set of actual moral values, but is based instead only on what the media exposes about him. The factor which caused him to expel the saluter was not the moral questionability of the man’s actions, but only that the newspapers found out about it because they were present. Griffin obviously does not care that he employes criminals in high office; his “morality” is merely that he would dismiss them if they reached the front page of the newspapers. Griffin’s management style is like the person who sits heavily on top of a dustbin to prevent anything inside getting out and fouling the streets. And whilst it is perfectly true that the Facist salute is Roman in origin (as, indeed, is the very word “facist”), the use of this term in this incident is a misapplication, because the offender is also reported to have shouted “Seig [sic] heil!” which therefore fully classifies his gesture as a Nazi salute, not a “Roman” one.

A number of years ago I was very active in a trade union. The Left a mixture of Commies,Trots and soft left decided they could not work any more together and they split in to two camps and started fielding candidates seperately [sic] against our moderate right group. Because they were so divided due to bickering, they could not win control of the union for over 8 years and lost many dedicated (in their eyes) activists who just gave up and left in frustration. It was only when they realised that their own in fighting was allowing us to win year after year, that they had to sort out their differences or die a long death. Then they won control. If the BNP continues to splinter NO new nationalists' party or groupings will ever make a break through. A number of nationalist party`s [sic] chasing the same vote will mean the death of popular nationalism. I cannot say that I am exactly happy at the moment, but I will not leave the BNP in times of trouble, that would be too easy.

How sad it is to see John Walker leave the party he has done so much for, what is worse than John’s loss to the party is the careless attitude of the party leadership. letting John leave without a bye [sic] your leave. It is truly disgusting that Griffin couldn’t see the damage he has done and resign rather than lose stalwart members / activists like John
