A detective inadvertently acknowledges the weakness of the evidence
David Norris is interviewed under caution by a Scotland Yard detective prior to his recent trial for the alleged murder of Stephen Lawrence.
Mr Norris exercises his right to refuse to answer questions during the interrogation.
It is noteworthy that at one point during the interview the detective states that the presence of a single hair, supposedly belonging to Stephen Lawrence, on a pair of jeans which had been in the hands of the police for more than seventeen years, "...may suggest..." that Norris was present at the scene of the crime. However, he immediately corrects himself and says "...almost certainly suggests..." that Norris was present at the scene of the crime.
The truth comes out first, doesn't it, Officer?
