Guilty until proven innocent

Gary Dobson is interviewed under caution by a Scotland Yard detective prior to his recent trial for the alleged murder of Stephen Lawrence.

Note that the detective describes fibres discovered (after seventeen years in police custody!) on a jacket belonging to Mr Dobson as "identical" to those in a polo shirt worn by Stephen Lawrence.

To say this, however, is to beg the question.  The most that may reasonably be said of any fibres is that they are similar, not that they are identical.
